Feeling Euphoric

When it comes to how we like to express ourselves, what better way than to use alcohol? You don’t have to be a budding TV star in order to feel good. If “unscripted” reality TV shows like to use alcohol as a way to bring about dramatic instances within their “cast” during production, why not imbibe yourself? It is an amazing way to protect yourself against those who you may feel are bullying you. Have a few drinks, and you feel like you just have no care in the world. Maybe you might have the courage to stand up to those who are unjustly ridiculing you for no apparent reason. Say what you will. Alcohol is a great inhibitor.

Just what is it about alcohol that brings about this change within our mindset? Well, there is a ton of scientific research that has been done for over a century as to the effects of alcohol on the human psychosis, but who cares? Those that know the feeling of uninhibited euphoria, know that you are capable of being, or doing whatever you want, however way you want, simply because being drunk has a way of manifesting oneself into the person you want to ultimately be.

If you don’t drink, that’s okay. But for those that do, you know what I’m writing about. The feeling you get when you become intoxicated, you feel invincible, right? Maybe you don’t. I feel more at ease, relaxed, more open. I could do anything I want, within reason of course. The buzzing feeling I get is so intense sometimes that I become more or less a vegetable. I’m so numb with the effect of the alcohol that I’m oblivious to a lot of what goes on around me. Hence, who cares what others say about you, am I right? Yeah, I don’t drive anymore. I’ve been in trouble more times than I care to admit with that. Today, I will hail a cab if I need to, it doesn’t bother me anymore. I would get upset in my youth if I didnt have a way to get home. I’d drive myself without a care in the world. Over time it got a little worse until I finally got pulled over. And then it was “never again!” Now, I drink at home. I won’t go anywhere if I know I will be drinking. Much to my wife’s chagrin, I am a sound sleeper when I am drunk. But that’s another story in itself.

I say and do whatever makes me feel good in regard to drinking. There really isn’t anything wrong with it unless you go out of your way to deliberately hurt others. Or if you are in a different frame of mind that you just go apey and do something completely off the wall and then whatever. Being responsible is tough enough, but when you’re lit? Look out.

Next episode coming soon. Stay tuned.
